When I look back over what the last year has given us, I know God has carried us the entire way and laid the most enormous hands of protection over Gabriella (the image in my head of that overwhelms me). May 11, 2009, I felt like I didn't know how to breathe anymore. May 11, 2010, I fight on for Gabriella. The pain and anguish we felt when we found out the severity Gabriella's life, and how short it could potentially be, is something we will never forget or get rid of, but we have been able to move in a forward direction from it. We had the option to handle this in many different ways, but we chose the route we took based on our faith and support. And to any of you reading this, YOU have been part of that.
I will never forget that day though, and will never minimize or try to "get past" the feelings I felt. It is because I choose to remember that pain that I can fight so hard for her today.

I love that you have not tried to forget the feelings you felt a year ago..it's because of them, like you said, that have given you the determination to fight for your daughter! God is with you!
OH Kristi...
that feeling is so raw and just thinking about it, I can almost still feel that pain...
I won't minimize it either.
And I pray, so very hard...that there is a heart. God knows there is...He's just wanting to get the perfect one for G!
Kristi-
I also experienced having a doctor tell me my daughter needed a heart transplant at three days old. I was devastated, but we are almost two months post transplant and my daughter is doing AMAZING. I know the statistics are scary, but they are from a time when we had little anti-rejection medication and little knowledge of pediatric cardiac transplants. Our doctors have estimated the statistics beyond one year will heavily increase in the coming years. Stay strong, and never give up hope. Your daughter is beautiful! If you ever have ANY QUESTIONS about post-transplant, pre-transplant, or anything. Do not hesitate to email me. Breeanna.s@gmail.com. I also have a blog you can follow that has lots of info taylorandbreeanna.blogspot.com.
