Sparkly heart update #5

Nothing new yet. Just had to come here and send a general thank you to everyone out there praying and investing time in Gabriella's transplant today. Your prayers have been a blanket of comfort and peace to us as we start a new path in this journey.

Gabriella's surgery will take about 6 hours total. We left her in the hands of amazing surgeons, nurses and medical staff at 730p, and the surgery itself started at 918a. Hopefully, things will wrap up and we can see her at about 130a. They will wheel her by the consultation room we are sitting in and we can see her briefly. It will take about 30-45 minutes to get her stabilized and hooked up to everything in the room. As long as she in on the ventilator, we can only see her for 10 minutes every hour. PLEASE pray that isn't too terribly long, as this momma does NOT like being away from her baby.

We don't know yet where the heart came from, but we know that regardless of the heart's state, age or gender... it came from someones child. I urge you to praise God for Gabriella but also pray for Gods peace for the donor family.

*****Just got another text update: surgery in progress everything ok******

It all seems such a short time ago - if I can be of any comfort or service to you, just let me know. I'm so happy for you and your family - I hope that her recovery is smooth and the ventilator comes out quickly (we did not have restrictions on our time with Mackenzie, even with the vent - that would be very hard). I think you'll be amazed at the changes you see immediately after the surgery! It is truly miraculous!

This is so very exciting! Many prayers have already been answered which is why she is in OR right now.
I have to be up for work at 4:30am but I usually am up a couple times a night. I will be checking your updates at those times and will continue to pray that all goes well.
I hope you and Paul can get some rest too. I know it is hard but you will need the rest once Gabriella wakes up. Praying for both of you as well!

my goodness I just found your blog & the tears are flowing. I guess it's because I'll be in your shoes some day & envision my boy reaching out crying for me. You will be in our prayers. What a beautiful little girl you have, God bless you all!

We're praying for you and your family. And also for the donor family. We know how much they sacrificed so our baby could come home. We had no time restrictions while she was on the vent, so I hope it will pass quickly for you. We have placed the good news on the Pray for Penny Gorman facebook page, so I know there are 100's praying for Gabriella now.

Although we have never met, I feel like I know you and your sweet baby girl. I am with you in spirit as you wait, patiently wait for news. I am saying a rosary for a perfect outcome.
It is so surreal knowing that she is getting her brand new heart we all prayed for as I write this.
May you feel God's love surround you each minute you wait.

I've thinking about her all day and now my prayers and thoughts go to the family who had to loose a young child for Gabriella to live. What a wonderful circle of life...And a Phoenix arouse from the ashes!!
