Hey, you out there, help a sista out!

On November 1, we'll be taking part in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Walk to Cure Diabetes at Tempe Town Lake, along with a half-million other walkers across the country. My husband, our 2 children and I will all be participating in the walk along side our family and thousands of others who are passionate about a cure.

Type 1, or juvenile, diabetes, is a devastating, often deadly disease that affects millions of people--a large and growing percentage of them children. My sister Kara was one of these children diagnosed with this desease, over a decade ago. Now, 22 years old, she still struggles with the day-to-day maintenence and trials her diabetes creates. The cost of insulin is high, yet still the strain the disease puts on her body is severe. The good news, though, is that a cure for type 1 diabetes is within reach, and we are faithful and hopeful we will see it in our lifetime. In fact, JDRF funding and leadership is associated with most major scientific breakthroughs in type 1 diabetes research to date. And JDRF funds a major portion of all type 1 diabetes research worldwide, more than any other charity.

We are greatly appreciative of the donations received, and hope to receive more before walk day November 1! There is no doubt everyone is struggling financially right now, but juvenile diabetes has no recession. Please consider donating on behalf of our family- even $10, $15 or $25! We will each be walking the 3.1 mile (5k) walk, totalling 10 miles for the 3 of us (LilMan gets to ride in the stroller, lucky guy!).

We appreciate all the donations and prayers you are able to lend!

Thank you
